Kevin Sonoda, a former professor of public speaking, has kindly agreed to join us once again! You may remember him from our workshops last year. There will be opportunities to practice public speaking and receive feedback. This workshop will not focus on basic public speaking skills, as previous workshops have. Instead, we will do a deeper dive into these topics:
- Developing their story
- Outline
- Manuscript
- How to practice
- Marking your manuscript
- Notes
- Delivery tips with PA systems
- Nonverbal elements
- Self Talk
This training is intended for volunteer speakers who have already taken at least one workshop with our instructor, Kevin Sonoda. Volunteers are asked to come to this workshop with a manuscript or outline of your story from a previous speaking event.
If you have not previously attended a speakers workshop, sign up for our beginners speakers workshop on the same day here.
This speakers workshop will take place on Saturday, June 13 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the DNA Rio Office in Tempe. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Due to the topic and length of the training, there is no virtual option to attend at this time. This training only has 15 slots. Sign up now to reserve your spot!
Please contact volunteers@dnaz.org with any questions. We hope to see you there! Register on Galaxy to let us know if you're coming.
