Run With Purpose. Move With EMS.
Tackle Trauma 2026 — EMS On the Move
Lace up and be part of something bigger than a race. Tackle Trauma 2026 brings runners, walkers, families, survivors, and the healthcare heroes who respond in the moments that matter most — together on one course, for one cause.
This year’s theme — EMS On the Move — celebrates the first responders who deliver life-saving care on wheels, in the field, and under pressure. Every step you take honors their work and fuels trauma education and support programs across Arizona.
Why Your Participation in Tackle Trauma Matters
Trauma is not a rare event — it is a leading public health crisis.
In the United States:
Trauma is the #1 cause of death for people up to age 45
Trauma is the #4 cause of death across all ages
Nearly 40,000 lives are lost to homicide and suicide each year
In 2001, over 30,000 suicides were reported
Motor Vehicle Crashes (2005):
43,443 deaths and 2.7 million injuries occurred due to motor vehicle crashes
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI):
TBI is the single largest cause of death from injury in the U.S.
1,000,000 people suffer a TBI annually
230,000 require hospitalization and 50,000 die — one-third of all trauma deaths
80,000–90,000 people a year live with long-term disability from TBI
Over 5 million Americans are living with TBI-related disability
Annual cost exceeds $37.8 billion
